OVERVIEW

Despite the fact that the Letter is largely neutral, taking on much meaning from nearby cards, it tends to be bright. It often clears the air and, in the very least, puts us in the know. It’s all about communication but also refers to documents and paperwork of any kind. It covers anything from a simple message to a formal invitation, a bill, or a diploma. It also indicates getting responses and feedback, or sending out resumes or requests for information. It can refer to telephone calls and conversations but it’s best associated with written exchanges. The Bird best represents oral communication.

IN THE PORTRAIT & GRAND TABLEAU

As the first card of the nine-card portrait, the Letter suggests we initiate communication. We might need to send out applications, make requests, ask questions, and seek answers. On the central card placement, the Letter indicates we’re about to receive important news, likely one that we’d been waiting for. Surrounding cards tell us whether it answers our hopes or not.

In the Grand Tableau, the Letter near the significator indicates good news and happiness, but when far, news isn’t so good. Either way, nearby cards have a significant influence. Surrounding cards are therefore more important than where the Letter falls in the Tableau.

ADVICE

The Letter generally advises us to get in touch, submit documents, organize paperwork, write goals, to-do lists, and so on. It also suggests that we take notes and keep records so we don’t forget important details. For anything we need to do or think through, writing it down on paper goes a long way.
